Robbinsdale is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Minnesota State Highway 100 and County Road 81 are two of the main routes in the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.0 square miles (7.7 km²), of which, 2.8 square miles (7.2 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²) of it (6.06%) is water. The elevation is 873 ft (266 m) above sea level.

As of the census of 2000, there were 14,123 people, 6,097 households, and 3,524 families residing in the city. The population density was 5,076.0 people per square mile (1,961.5/km²). There were 6,243 housing units at an average density of 2,243.8/sq mi (867.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 88.88% White, 5.74% African American, 0.59% Native American, 2.07% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.01% from other races, and 1.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.00% of the population.

There were 6,097 households out of which 26.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.7% were married couples living together, 10.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.2% were non-families. 34.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.93.

In the city the population was spread out with 21.7% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $48,271, and the median income for a family was $57,185. Males had a median income of $37,406 versus $30,771 for females. The per capita income for the city was $23,912. About 2.0% of families and 4.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.8% of those under age 18 and 7.0% of those age 65 or over.

ROBBINSDALE, a city adjoining Minneapolis on the northwest, was named for Andrew B. Robbins, who purchased lands there in 1887 and platted the village. The city organized as a village in 1893 but was not incorporated until 1938; its post office, begun in 1888 as Parker, changed back and forth with that name several times until 1901, when Robbinsdale became the name, closing in 1938.
