History:

GOLDEN VALLEY, a western suburb of Minneapolis, euphoniously named for its beautiful valley enclosing a small and narrow lake, was incorporated December 17, 1886, under a village charter, though it was chiefly a farming community. It had been formerly the northwest part of Minneapolis Township. Its post office operated first as Minneapolis Park, 1891-98, discontinuing in 1901; it had a station of the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad.
