Altura is a town in Winona County, Minnesota. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.98 square miles (7.72 km2), all of it land. The elevation is 1,171 feet (357 m).

As of the census of 2020, there were 471 people, 175 households, and 126 families residing in the city. The population density was 158.1 inhabitants per square mile. There were 188 housing units at an average density of 63.1 per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 83.4% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 11.9% from other races, and 4.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 16.6% of the population.
There were 175 households of which 29.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 14.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 20.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 28.6% were non-families. 4.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 29.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.73.
The median age in the city was 38.1 years. 23.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 10.1x% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 24.2% were from 25 to 44; 25.5% were from 45 to 64; and 16.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was x% male and x% female.
The median household income was $60,313. The poverty rate was 5.3%. 5.5% of residents had a bachelors degree or higher. The median rent was $725 and 74.3% owned their homes. The average value of a housing unit was $138,500.

Today, the tower is used for recreation and education. Open daylight hours April through October, it is located two miles from the park in the town of Elba. It is a hike to get to the base of the tower—there are approximately 500 uneven steps—which might be a challenge for some!
