Open house set for restored Farwell church 

Farwell Norwegian Lutheran Church will open its doors to the public once again this weekend. An open house for the restored church is set for Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, from 1-4 p.m. Karen Tolkkinen / Forum News Service Artist Gloria Pfeifer explains how she mixed two kinds of paint to restore the gilt detail on the pulpit and altar at Farwell Norwegian Lutheran Church.

Abduction suspects moved around central MN, police say; farmers asked to look for evidence 

Law enforcement officials are working to retrace the steps of the three men who are suspected of abducting and assaulting 15-year-old Jasmine Block. Alexandria Police Chief Rick Wyffels said police are asking that Douglas, Grant and Pope county farmers keep an eye out for areas in cornfields that look as if they could have been driven through.

Second Minnesota lake infested in 2017 by starry stonewort 

The state Department of Natural Resources said Monday that starry stonewort has been found in Lake Minnewaska in Pope County. The 7,500-acre lake, the largest in Pope County and a popular spot for anglers and boaters, is the 11th in the state to be infested with the invasive algae since the first infestation was reported in 2015.
