Jennie-O barn destroyed by fire, no animals in building at time Friday, January 12 

A propane heater likely started a fire that destroyed a Jennie-O turkey barn in New York mills, Minnesota early Friday morning. The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office says they were called to the scene, 41963 County Highway 53, around 12:15 a.m. When deputies and fire personnel arrived on scene, the barn was fully engulfed.

Vehicle versus timberwolf: Motorist strikes, kills wolf in central Minn. 

Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Adam Kavanagh holds up a wolf that was killed when a car hit it near Rose City. Kavanagh was holding it up to judge the size of the animal, which he guessed to weigh more than 100 pounds.

2 injured in I-94 crash in Otter Tail County 

Two people were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries Monday after a vehicle side-swiped another on I-94 at Highway 59 near Fergus Falls Township in Otter Tail County. A 1998 Buick Park Avenue driven by 28-year-old Peter John Riske of Reynolds, North Dakota, was westbound on I-94 when it side-swiped a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer that was parked on the shoulder because of a flat tire.

Four vehicle crash in Otter Tail County Saturday, January 6 

The Minnesota State Patrol says around 5:30 p.m., a pickup was southbound on County Road 60 and was attempting to cross Highway 10 when it was hit by a compact SUV. The pickup then spun and hit a SUV that had been northbound on County Road 60. An eastbound car then struck the compact SUV that had come to rest in the eastbound lane of Highway 10. The car's 26-year-old driver and 3-year-old passenger, both of Detroit Lakes, were taken to the hospital in Perham with non-life threatening injuries.

Jamestown man escapes serious injury in rollover 

A Jamestown man escaped serious injury when he lost control of his Ford Ranger on I-94 in Otter Tail County early Wednesday morning, spun onto the right shoulder and rolled.

Chimney was likely cause of Ottertail, Minn. house fire 

Fire has destroyed a home near Ottertail, Minn. Firefighters from Ottertail, Perham, Henning, Vergas and New York Mills were called to the blaze Monday afternoon on the south side of Rush Lake.

One person treated for smoke inhalation in Otter Tail County fire 

A garage was destroyed in an early morning fire in rural Vergas, in Otter Tail County and one person was treated for smoke inhalation. A 911 call reported the detached garage was on fire at 30229 Candor Hall Road shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday.The garage was fully engulfed in flames when Veras firefighters arrived on scene.

Landowner's feud with DNR closes access to Otter Tail County lake 

Just beyond the "No Trespassing" sign is Rick Chodek's sturdy fence, which now blocks public access to Jolly Ann Lake near the town of Ashby. With 1,048 lakes, Otter Tail County has more lakes than any other county in the nation.

Man survives 1 hour in frigid water after fall through ice 

An Otter Tail County man survived falling through thin ice on Walker Lake and spending nearly an hour in the freezing water. "I just look ahead and I see him... the ice breaking away and the snowmobile going through," said Don's son, Jed Hovland.

Frustration in Fergus Falls after Target pulls its holiday toys
