House fire consumes rural residence 

Marshall firefighters were called to a house fire at 2767 Lochland Hills Drive near Lake Marshall Tuesday around 2:45 a.m. Mutual aid was called with firefighters from Balaton, Garvin, Lynd and Tracy responding. North Ambulance, Lyon County Sheriff and Marshall Police Department also responded.

School days 

There was no electricity, no running water, two outhouses and one teacher for about 30 students from grades one through eight. School lunches were packed by mothers and consisted of leftovers, a jar of soup or a baking potato that was placed on the potbellied stove.

Sunrise Court hearing moved to Monday 

A petition trying to get the heat turned back on at the Sunrise Court apartment complex made it into Lyon County District Court on Friday morning, but there wasn't much action taken on it. Instead, because there are more petitions being filed by tenants, the court will hear them all at once on Monday.

Court documents filed against Sunrise Court owners 

Court documents have been filed against the owners of the Sunrise Court apartments in Marshall. A current tenant is petitioning for emergency relief under the Tenant Remedies Act, Lyon County District Court records said.

Crime for Sept. 26 

An 18-year-old male was cited for speeding in an incident reported at 10:49 a.m. Monday on Minnesota Highway 23, the Lyon County Sheriff's Department said. MARSHALL - A school bus stop arm violation was reported at 8:30 a.m. Monday on the intersection of Jewett Street and Parkside Drive, Marshall Police said.

Crime for Sept. 25 

An incident reported at 6:48 a.m. Sunday on the intersection of 170th Street and 180th Avenue is under investigation, the Lyon County Sheriff's Department said. LYND - An 18-year-old female was cited for speeding in an incident reported at 7:57 p.m. Sunday on the intersection of 230th Street and Lyon County Road 5, the Lyon County Sheriff's Department said.
