100-megawatt wind farm proposed in Renville County, Minn. 

David Neely is project manager for the Renville Wind Farm with EDP Renewables. The company hosted an open house Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Bird Island to provide information on the company's plans for a 100-megawatt wind farm north of Bird Island.

Vehicle goes through ice on Lake Lillian 

Two people escaped injury Friday night, Dec. 7, when the vehicle they were in plunged through the ice on the north side of Lake Lillian. According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle was pulling a fish house when it went through the ice.

Twin Cities man dies in two-vehicle crash near Willmar 

The collision occurred about 3:50 p.m. Thursday in Green Lake Township, roughly 8 miles northeast of Willmar, according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office. Joshua A. Torgeson, 42, of Shakopee, died at the scene, the intersection of County roads 9 and 127, the Sheriff's Office said.

Twin Cities-area man dies in central Minn. crash 

A 42-year-old Shakopee man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash north of Willmar Thursday afternoon, Dec. 6. According to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, the man was driving eastbound on County Road 127 in a 2018 Chevrolet utility truck when the collision occurred at the intersection with County Road 9. The crash, reported at 3:53 p.m., occurred when the utility truck struck a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 40-year-old New London woman. She was northbound on County Road 9. The woman was extricated from her vehicle and transported to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

The Diocese of Winona-Rochester plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection following allegations of child sexual abuse against former priests. The southern Minnesota diocese distributed a letter from Bishop John Quinn to parishioners over the weekend.

Minnesota man injured in hunting accident expected to be OK 

A 22-year-old man was injured in a weekend hunting accident in central Minnesota, but he's expected to be OK. The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office says Mitchel Macik, of Hector, was taken to a Willmar hospital by private vehicle Saturday after being shot in the leg with a small-caliber rifle bullet.

The Vitals first responder app is a non-intrusive, real-time resource developed as a way to give individuals with various conditions more peace of mind WILLMAR - Law enforcement and emergency medical technicians in Kandiyohi County and Willmar will begin using the Vitals App next month as a way to improve interactions between first responders and people living with visible and invisible conditions and disabilities. According to a news release announcing the initiative, the Vitals first responder app is a non-intrusive, real-time resource developed as a way to enhance policing and give individuals with various conditions and their families more peace of mind.

Worker in farm field near Willmar is killed 

A construction worker was killed while working in a farm field southwest of Willmar in west-central Minnesota, authorities said. The 31-year-old man was pronounced dead late Friday morning at the scene - a field in Holland Township, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office said.
