Huge dumping problem in Fillmore County 

PRESTON, Minn.- Fillmore County residents are illegally dumping their trash at recycling site in the small town of Preston. Which is making it harder for workers to properly dispose of items at the recycling center.

Dying Bees Forces Beekeeper from Staying in Business 

After 41 years of beekeeping, James Whitlock of Fillmore County suits up and tends to his remaining hives for the enjoyment. "I do it as a hobby but I'm downgrading every year," said Whitlock.

Fillmore County Board Declares State of Emergency 

Tuesday afternoon, the Fillmore County Board of Commissioners declared a state of emergency because of damage from the flooding over the weekend. Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase said all townships and cities were hit pretty hard.

Fillmore County gets to work fixing roads damaged by weekend rain 

It might take the whole week to fix the roads that crumbled under the onslaught of rain that fell Saturday morning across Fillmore County. "The quarry where we need to get the materials is not accessible," said Fillmore County Engineer Ronald Gregg.

Fillmore County officer was stranded by flooding, as three-state area pounded with rain 

LEFT: CR 15 south of 120th Street; RIGHT: CR 22 between Harmony and the junction of CR 15 & 22. A Fillmore County deputy was stranded in the Highway 30 area over the weekend, and had to move to higher ground to escape the flooding. The three-state area was soaked by storms that moved through Saturday night, leaving nearly 7 inches of rain in some locations.

Sheriff: County Roads Washed Out, Fields Flooded 

Off of county road five just south of Wykoff, creeks are popping up where there should be fields. While the water has gone down significantly since Saturday's storms, fields are still underwater and areas have been carved out by the flooding.

Motorcyclist killed in Fillmore County collision with horse is identified 

The 60-year-old Iowa man who died Friday morning when his motorcycle collided with a horse in rural Fillmore County has been identified as Timothy Joe Holt. Holt was driving his 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on a rural two-lane road in an area of rolling hills when a horse grazing in a south ditch broke free of a constraint and wandered onto Hwy.

Iowa Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident with Horse 

A motorcyclist from Decorah, Iowa was killed today when he hit a horse near Mabel, Minnesota. The accident took place on Highway 44, just east of the intersection with Highway 52 and just west of Mabel.

Medical examiner reviews 2017 cases 

R. Ross Reichard, M.D., Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner, reviewed 2017 Fillmore County death statistics at the board's May 22 meeting. This medical examiner's office investigates "sudden, violent, unexpected, and suspicious deaths" in an eight county area in southeastern Minnesota.
