Stewartville teenager injured in early morning crash 

Kobi Quick, 19, was northbound on U.S. Highway 52 at about 1:39 a.m. a mile north of Chatfield in Olmsted County when the car she was driving went off the road, hit a culvert and rolled, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol. Quick was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus with non-life threatening conditions, the state patrol reported.

Fillmore County Crash Kills One 

A Wykoff man was killed when his vehicle left a rural Fillmore County roadway Friday night before hitting a tree. A neighbor who was driving in the 28000 block of Morgan Road called police after coming across a 1992 Buick Riviera off the road, Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase said.

Wykoff man dies in single-car accident 

The Fillmore County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a single car accident on Friday, Jan. 5 around 7:30 p.m. It happened in the 28000 block of Morgan Road. Officials say a passerby who lives in the area was traveling south and observed a vehicle off the roadway.

Ostrander, MN Boil Advisory Lifted 

The water boil advisory for Ostrander has been lifted by the Minnesota Health Department and the City of Ostrander. The announcement was made by Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Auto accident in Fillmore County 

The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened around 11 am Wednesday on Highway 16. 64-year-old Della Marie Mehaffey of Mabel was driving east when she hit a guardrail near 182nd Street. Mehaffey suffered a non-life threatening injury and was taken to Winona Health hospital for treatment.

More Kids Entering Foster Care Due to Parental Drug Abuse 

A new report from The Minnesota Department of Human Services shows drug abuse by parents has become the leading cause of children entering foster care. Last year around 27% of kids removed from homes were due to substance abuse as the primary reason, followed by neglect at 24.5%.

High-Speed Internet Net Expands in Rural Area 

Thanks to a grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development , a rural area in Southeast Minnesota will see the same service others have come to expect. AcenTek, the video and internet provider for the area was awarded more than $2 million from the state to expand broadband service.
