Picnic operetta 'Falstaff' to be presented at DreamAcres 

The picnic operatta "Dr. Falstaff and the Working Wives of Lake County" will be presented at 3 p.m. Saturday at DreamAcres Farm , 17289 Fillmore County Road 8, Wykoff. The outdoor presentation by Minneapolis-based Mixed Precipitation, is based on Otto Nicolai's German opera "The Merry Wives of Windsor."

Peterson Council meets prospective school buyer 

Near the conclusion of the Wednesday, September 12 meeting, the Peterson Council had the opportunity to meet Roger Anderson, representing the Anderson Maplewood Group. The group is in the final stages of a sale with Rushford-Peterson School District to purchase the former R-P Middle School in Peterson.

Season of barn dances coming to a close 

The final barn dance of the season will be held Friday at DreamAcres Farm , 17289 Fillmore County Road 8 near Wykoff. The old-fashioned dance will feature string-band music by Bob Bovee and Fred Campeau, with dances taught and called by Paul "Dr. Do-Si-Do" Tyler, of Chicago.

Motorcycle crash in Fillmore County 

The Minnesota State Patrol says Caleb John Evans, 23 of Rochester, was riding south on Highway 250 when he lost control on a curve near Golden Drive and hit the left side of a bridge.

MPCA postponed EIS decision on proposed Catalpa Ag. swine facility 

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has postponed its decision on whether to require an Environmental Impact Statement on a proposed swine facility in Fillmore County. According to Catherine Rofshus, information officer in the MPCA's Rochester office , the MPCA performed electrical resistivity imaging testing in late August to look at any ground and soil features such as sinkholes and the suitability of the site for manure basins.

County sales tax approved 

Commissioners approved the tax, which will be used for transportation, at their meeting on Aug. 25. The revenue raised will be dedicated to funding projects identified in the Dodge County Transportation Capital Improvement Plan. At a public hearing at an earlier meeting, the county estimated that the tax would bring in $446,180 in revenue each year.

Criminal vehicular homicide charge in Fillmore County collision 

A 24-year-old man is charged with criminal vehicular homicide in a hit-and-run crash with an Amish buggy in southeastern Minnesota that killed one man and injured two others. Connor Keene of Canton was charged Tuesday with four felony counts, including causing a traffic death while under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

Two injured when motorcycle leaves roadway 

Two people were injured Saturday night when the motorcycle on which they were riding left Minnesota Highway 30 in Pilot Mound Township of Fillmore County and went into a cornfield. The 1994 Harley Davidson, driven by James Michael Kosnopfal, 50, of Stewartville, was westbound on Minnesota Highway 30 at 10:16 p.m. when the crash occurred, according to the State Patrol.

Canton man arrested following fatal hit-and-run crash 

As of Sunday afternoon, Fillmore County authorities still have not released the name of a 21-year-old Amish man who was killed in a crash Friday afternoon in Amherst Township. The Fillmore County Sheriff's Office responded to a call around 3:45 p.m. Friday for report of an Amish buggy that had been struck by a car, according to Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase.

Two hurt in Fillmore County motorcycle crash 

The Minnesota State Patrol says the cycle was heading west on Highway 30, near mile marker 247, when it missed a curve, went off the road, and ended up in a corn field around 10:16 pm.

Sheriff: Amish Buggy Struck In Hit-&-Run; 1 Dead 

A 21-year-old man is dead after a hit-and-run driver hit an Amish buggy in Fillmore County Friday afternoon. The sheriff's office says the crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. on County Road 21 in Amherst Township.

Life-threatening injuries in crash involving an Amish buggy 

The Fillmore County Sheriff's Office says a 911 call about the crash came in around 3:45 pm Friday. It happened near the 18000 block of County Road 21. Three Amish males in the buggy, ages 21, 19, and 17 years old, were hurt and the 21-year-old was taken to the hospital with what are described as serious, life-threatening injuries.

Before taking off, Miles got a chance to site in the pilot's seat. 

For most of the past year little Miles Nelson of West Concord has spent his time in a hospital room at St. Marys in Rochester being treated for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Miles, who just turned three earlier this month, would look out his window and excitedly exclaim "helicopter" whenever he saw Mayo One come for a landing or leave for a call.
