Minnesota parolee gets life sentence for Omaha murder 

Court records say the sentence was handed down Friday to 32-year-old Tyeric Lessley, of Omaha. Early last month a Douglas County jury in Omaha found him guilty of first-degree murder and four other crimes.

Vehicle versus timberwolf: Motorist strikes, kills wolf in central Minn. 

Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Adam Kavanagh holds up a wolf that was killed when a car hit it near Rose City. Kavanagh was holding it up to judge the size of the animal, which he guessed to weigh more than 100 pounds.

Pedersen named Superior Chamber president/CEO 

The Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce board of directors has named Taylor Pedersen as its President/CEO to permanently replace David Minor, who resigned in July 2017 to accept the CEO position at the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce. Pedersen has been with The Chamber since 2013, serving as director of the Visitors Bureau and Member Services.

2 dead after Minn. mobile home fire 

According to a news release from the Alexandria Police Department, shortly before 5 a.m., the Alexandria Fire Department, North Ambulance and the Alexandria Police Department were called to a mobile home that was on fire with smoke and flames visible. The home was inside the Viking City mobile home park near 6th Avenue and Victor Street.

One of five Denver officers shot in New Year's Eve incident is from Minnesota 

One of five law enforcement officers shot while responding to a disturbance at an apartment complex near Denver on New Year's Eve has ties to the area. Tom O'Donnell, 41, spent a few hours in the hospital after being wounded during the incident on Sunday, Dec. 31, in a Denver suburb.

Minn. lakes survey shows frustration with DNR 

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.-Minnesota lake association leaders say they donate millions of dollars and volunteer hours each year caring for lakes, yet the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources doesn't take them seriously. In a statewide survey, their comments reflect frustration and alarm over the spread of aquatic invasive species in Minnesota lakes.
