Registrations for the 20th Expo have started 

Dodge County businesses will celebrate the 20th Annual Dodge County Business Expo on Saturday, March 24, and registrations have already started coming in. The Dodge County Expo Committee has been meeting monthly since October to work on plans for this year's event.

For anyone who likes to sample food from around the world the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dodge Center was the place to be Sunday afternoon. All the food available for sampling, McNeilus said, was either vegetarian or vegan.

Deputy assaulted while intervening in domestic dispute 

A Dodge County Deputy is recovering from injuries and a Dodge Center man is in custody as a result of a domestic dispute on Dec. 30. Deputy Jeff Brion, a resident of Byron, was dispatched to a residence in Dodge Center on a report of an assault in progress. The criminal complaint against Trevor Earl Broitzman alleges that Broitzman assaulted his cousin and grandmother before deputies were called to the scene.

Westfall settles in as director of Dodge County Historical Society 

Describing himself as a "Navy brat" and the son of a Naval aviator he said he grew up at a variety of Naval Air Stations. His undergraduate degree is in American Indian Studies.

MnDOT awards grant money for transportation projects 

Dodge County was awarded $135,450. Highway 56 will be getting a bypass lane for southbound traffic and a right-hand turn lane for northbound traffic.

Dodge County closes out year 

Keeping their promise of minimizing the property tax increase for next year, the Dodge County Commissioners approved a 3.7 percent increase for 2018 at their meeting Dec. 26. The preliminary budget approved in September called for a 7 percent increase. The largest percentage increase goes to road repair and maintenance, something the state has long delayed providing funds for, lamented County Commissioner John Allen.

Dodge County man sentenced for Mower County threats 

Authorities say he was arrested on October 9 after trying to steal a vehicle. Stroud reportedly was getting a lift from Kasson to Adams so he could pick up a motorcycle, then told the driver to pull over and get out.

Budget, levy, lot transfer, law enforcement contract approved 

Claremont City Council members approved the 2018 budget and levy, the 2018 contract with the Dodge County Sheriff's Office for law enforcement services and the transfer of a lot in the RK&T subdivision to Rochester Habitat for Humanity at last week's city council meeting. The city's total budget for 2018 is $1,031,248.83, an increase from the $953,351 budgeted in 2017.
