Our View: Dodge County 'crosses line' in seizing photos

The deputy confiscated the data card from Dobson's camera, which the Minnesota Newspaper Association's attorney calls "extremely troubling" and a potential violation of the journalist's First Amendment and Fourth Amendment rights.

Sober Fest is a chance for local Drug Court participants, alumni, family and friends to celebrate the program's successes. The annual gathering features a softball tournament and a hog roast.

Shining a Light on Stress after Tragedies: First Responders Coping Mechanisms 

There are no results yet from the autopsy that was scheduled on the body of a 7-year-old boy. Authorities say the boy's body was discovered in a deep part of Naylor pond; where he was last seen with friends.

Boy's body recovered from Minnesota pond Wednesday, July 18 

The Olmsted County Medical Examiner's Office will do an autopsy on the body of a 7-year-old boy pulled from a pond in Dodge County. Initial reports say the Gabriel Kuhlman drowned in Naylor Pond Tuesday afternoon.

Grant helps put Wasioja back on the map 

Donald Westfall is the executive director of the Dodge County Historical Society. The Dodge County Historical Society received grants for the renovation of the Civil War era Wasioja Recruiting Station, pictured, and for interpretive signage for the Wasioja Historic District.

Rural Dodge County home severely damaged in fire 

Eleven minutes after midnight, a fire was reported at 67523 270th Ave., between Kasson and Byron. It is believed the blaze began in the attached garage.

Council accepts City Administrator Lee Mattson's resignation 

After 18 years with City Administrator Lee Mattson as his right hand man, Mayor Bill Ketchum asked the council Monday night for a motion to accept Mattson's letter of resignation. There was no joy in the room as the motion was made and unanimously approved.

Dodge County public defender retires after 22 years 

After twenty-two years of serving as a public defender, Rachael Drenckpohl retired in June. "If it weren't for the people in Dodge County, I probably would have retired a lot sooner," she said.

Lens on History: Water, water everywhere 

When Dr. Charles H. Mayo helped set the cornerstone of the new auditorium and theater in Mayo Park in 1938, there had not been a major flood of the Zumbro River in 30 years. On July 5, 1978, nearly 7 inches of rain fell in six hours on Dodge and Olmsted counties, the headwaters of the south fork of the Zumbro River.

Request to reduce Baez bail denied 

During a hearing Friday in Olmsted County District Court, Baez's attorney, Christa Groshek, requested that bail be reduced to $100,000 with conditions or $500,000 without conditions, saying her client is not a threat to flee. In addition, she said, his multiple gunshot wounds need more attentive treatment than Baez is receiving in the Olmsted County jail.

Authorities: Baez involved in criminal sexual conduct in Dodge Co. for nearly a decade 

DODGE COUNTY, Minn. Julio Baez, a Kasson police officer, was engaged in criminal sexual conduct from 1998-2006 in Dodge County, according to authorities.
