Manhattan Beach Council approves 2019 Tax Levy 

The Manhattan Beach City Council approved the 2019 tax levy when it met in regular session Tuesday, December 4. Mayor Paul Allen was present along with Council members Janis Allen, Barb Hanson Wannebo and Clerk-Treasurer Amy Wannebo. The budget totaled $70,000 and included $60,000 for City revenue, $5,000 for the Road Fund and $5,000 for the Building Fund.

Motor vehicle accident claims life of Merrifield man 

Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reports that there was a report of a fatal motor vehicle accident on 12-6-18 at approx. 4:23 pm near the intersection of Wise Road and Sugarberry Creek Road, Brainerd.

Crow Wing County Employees Give $16,919 in United Way Campaign 

Crow Wing County employees pledged $16,919 to the United Way of Crow Wing and Cass counties as part of their United Way Campaign for 2019. Many staff pledge to give through payroll deductions, one time donations and volunteering.

Brainerd police continue to search for Theodore Erickson: Missing man has warrant out for arrest 

The Brainerd Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies, continue to investigate the disappearance of a 44-year-old Brainerd man.

Driver suffers injury as car leaves road, hits tree 

A 25-year-old Ironton man was injured when the Nissan Altima he was driving left the roadway and hit a tree Saturday, Dec. 8, on the 7500 block of Highway 169 in Garrison.

Crow Wing County road maintenance continues 

Crow Wing County maintenance crews will perform brushing, limb-trimming and tree-removal work in the road rights of way this week on various county roads, including County Highway 22 in Long Lake Township, and County Highway 21 and County Road 131 in St. Mathias Township. Chipping of the smaller brush will take place at the site.

Emily City Council Approves Funds for Bridge Report 

The Emily City Council approved spending $6,400 to get an engineering report to determine what to do about repairs to the Emily Dam bridge when it met in regular session Tuesday, November 13. Members present included Mayor Roger Lund and councilmembers Dan Barrett, Gerhart Hanson, Jan Mosman and Bill Spiess. Also present were Jeff Ledin, City Engineer, Cari Johnson, City Clerk and Treasurer, and Pam Roden, Deputy Clerk.
