Charges: Anger with cat escalates into domestic assault 

A 24-year-old Brainerd man faces four felonies after alleged anger at a cat prompted him to assault two victims Friday in a Brainerd home. Richard Jacob Kalk was charged Monday in Crow Wing County District Court and remained in the Crow Wing County Jail late Monday.

Senate staff to offer help with VA, Medicare and more 

On Friday, the constituent services staff of U.S. Sen. Tina Smith, D-Minn., will be in Brainerd as part of the senator's statewide constituent services effort. The meetings are designed to inform Minnesotans about how Smith can go to bat for them when they need help working with a federal agency, a news release stated.

Emily City Council 

The Emily City Council approved bids to pave the city parking lot and adjacent alley when it met in regular session on Tuesday, February 13 at City Hall. Members present included Mayor Roger Lund and Council members Gary Hanson, Jan Mosman and Bill Spiess.

Level 3 offender moving to Baxter: Tromblay is known to Brainerd 

A Level 3 predatory offender-who has lived in Brainerd in the past and is known by Minnesota Department of Corrections probation agents-is moving to Baxter. The Baxter Police Department reported Joshua Chad Tromblay is moving Monday to Bur Oak Drive in Baxter.

Cass County Board: Board considers 'opportunity zones,' highway expansions 

The new Highway 371 interchange at Crow Wing County Road 11 in Pequot Lakes, includes tear-drop roundabout accesses. The 2016-2017 Highway 371 four lane expansion project in Nisswa, Pequot Lakes and Jenkins was constructed from April 2016 - October 2017.

Lueck endorsed by GOP for reelection 

Rep. Dale Lueck received a unanimous endorsement by Aitkin County and Crow Wing County Republican delegates for his reelection to a third term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Delegates gathered at the Journey North Community Church in Aitkin March 3, for the endorsement process.
