Federal Dam - Soo Line Bridge Fire Closed for Soo Line Trail Traffic 

Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on September 6, 2018 at 1:01 AM the Cass County Sheriff's Office received a report of a fire in the City of Federal Dam. Deputies and Federal Dam Fire Department responded and found the Soo Line bridge crossing the Leech Lake River fully engulfed in fire.

Fire Closes Portion of Soo Line Trail 

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, a fire has damaged the Soo Line bridge crossing over the Leech Lake River. Sheriff Tom Burch says authorities received a report of a fire in the city of Federal Dam at about 1:00 AM on Thursday morning.

Low unemployment levels recorded across the region 

In Brainerd, the number of people unemployed out of the labor force amounted to 268 people out of 6,798, for an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent. Brainerd, using the 56401 ZIP code, has been routinely in single digit unemployment since May of 2014 with just one bump up to 11.1 percent in December of that year.
