3 arrested after short chase in Becker County 

The Becker County Sheriff's Office says a deputy was on patrol south of Elbow Lake, when he saw a pickup that may have been used in a burglary in Mahnomen County. The deputy tried to stop the pickup, and the driver, 29-year-old Misty Bellecourt of Waubun, took off.

Western Minn. man charged with starting family's mobile home on fire 

A Frazee man has been charged in Becker County District Court in connection with a fire Saturday morning, Nov. 18, at a mobile home here. The Becker County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a fire near U.S. Highway 10 and upon arriving at the scene found a mobile home on fire.

3 hurt, driver pulled from car after Becker County crash 

Three people from Minnesota were hurt after a driver crashed into a wooded area just north of Detroit Lakes Tuesday. Sheriff Todd Glander with the Becker County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened just after 2 a.m. near Holmesville Township on County Highway 26. Authorities report 28-year-old Candace Roberts of Ponsford had to be pulled from the car by firefighters.

Investigation of a mobile fire in Becker County leads to the arrest of one person 

The Becker County Sheriff's Office says along with the Frazzee Fire Department, they responded to a report of a mobile home fire at 30397 U.S. Hwy 20 in Burlington Township.

Some city-owned liquor stores in western Minnesota struggle financially 

Barnesville's municipal liquor store, Fire Hall Liquors, lost $8,582 in 2016, 2.1 percent of total sales. The city will hold a public hearing about the store on Dec. 11. MOORHEAD, Minn.-Several western Minnesota municipalities face difficult questions about whether they should remain in the liquor store business and, if they do, how they can do that profitably.

Shot 8 times by officers in northwest Minn., West Fargo man still in... 

A West Fargo man shot by two Becker County lawmen in September remains hospitalized but now faces criminal charges, and his mother says he may have tried to get officers to kill him so he wouldn't have to return to prison. Dean Robert Minnerath, 55, has been charged with first-degree assault for using, or attempting to use, deadly force against a law enforcement officer; second-degree assault with a firearm; possession of a firearm in violation of a court order prohibiting that because of past convictions; and fleeing a peace officer.
