Continuous air monitoring planned for Goodhue County hog farm 

A letter from the commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has a pair of state lawmakers crying foul over the agency's treatment of a hog producer in Goodhue County. MPCA Commissioner John Linc Stine sent a letter dated Dec. 8 to several individuals who have been battling a proposed hog confinement feedlot to be located about five miles northeast of Zumbrota.

Bowers and trusty autoharp head for Zumbrota 

Bryan Bowers , a singer, storyteller and player of the autoharp, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at Crossings at Carnegie, 320 East Ave., Zumbrota. Bowers, a native of Virginia, got hooked on singing as a child, first took up the guitar, and then discovered the autoharp.

John Denver, Huey Lewis tributes coming to Zumbrota 

Tribute shows to the music of two prominent 1970s and 1980s acts, John Denver and Huey Lewis, will be presented on upcoming weekends at the State Theatre in Zumbrota. - "A Tribute to the Music of John Denver," featuring Layne Yost, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13. Yost became hooked on Denver's music while in college when he saw the artist perform in Chicago.

Andy's Liquor at the Crossroads had a constant flow of customers for at least the first half hour Sunday, July 2, 2017, in Rochester. Sunday was the first day for legal Sunday sales in Minnesota.

Whitesidewalls bring the '50s to Zumbrota 

The golden age of good time rock 'n' roll and doo wop will be brought back when the Whitesidewalls perform at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at the State Theatre, 96 E. Fourth St., Zumbrota. The Whitesidewalls were formed in 1971 and were regulars for a decade at Valleyfair.

Former Zumbrota ambulance director charged with embezzlement 

The former director of Zumbrota Area Ambulance faces charges of embezzlement of public funds and theft after an investigation discovered more than $11,000 of misappropriated funds. Sara Carlson, 55, of Wanamingo, faces one count each of embezzlement of public funds and theft, both felonies.
