Sons of Norway meeting to focus on Lindbergh 

The Sons of Norway Stavanger Lodge will host their next monthly meeting on Thursday, July 19, at the Cottonwood County Historical Society Museum, 812 4th Ave, Windom. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Theprogram will delve into the life and times of Charles Lindbergh, exploring his experiences in flight, family tragedies and political controversy.

Southwest Minnesota experiences near-record flooding

Welcome home celebration for South Dakota Special Olympics Gold Medalists 

The 2018 USA Special Olympics just wrapped up in Seattle after a full week of competition; South Dakota athletes brought home 35 gold medals. The water continues to rise in Southwest Minnesota, where the West Fork Des Moines River is at its highest point in fifty years.

Loans available for flooded farms in Minnesota 

Minnesota officials have examined areas that were flooded earlier this week in the southwestern part of the state. In the meantime, officials announced that loans will be available for flooded farms and gave advice on how to make sure well water is safe.

Whole county invited to Okabena for... 

The entire county is invited to Okabena July 4 for the community's annual Independence Day celebration. The fun actually gets under way the night prior, as the Windom-based "Blood Brothers" are set to perform at the Okabena Municipal Liquor Store starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
