Think the rain is bad now? Recalling the greatest storm in Minnesota history 

There is a sickly green tinge to the air when a summer thunderstorm passes over the Twin Cities. Last Thursday , as commuters headed home from their jobs, a slapping wind blew away the afternoon sunshine and signaled another gusher was on the way.

DEED awards $19 million in housing grants 

Small cities in Greater Minnesota are receiving more than $19 million from the state for housing rehabilitation and infrastructure projects, but advocates warn much more is needed to make housing more affordable. The 35 grants announced July 11 come through the Small Cities Development Program, a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development program administered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

Couple killed, father critically injured in motorcycle crash 

A couple died and a relative was critically injured when a car collided with three motorcycles in central Minnesota, according the State Patrol. James Young Jr., 42, and Michelle Young, 44, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Saturday on Highway 23 northeast of Willmar.

2 motorcyclists killed in crash with car in Minnesota 

A car turned in front of three motorcyclists, resulting in a crash that killed two of the riders, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash happened at 11:20 a.m. Saturday on Highway 23 in Roseville Township in Kandiyohi County, about 23 miles northeast of Willmar.

After nearly 118 years, small-town Minnesota newspaper closes its doors 

The Raymond/Prinsburg News ceased publication with a July 4 edition. Publisher Ted Almen said readers will continue to have their local news covered.

Prairie Fire feeds passion for acting 

This year is the 20th anniversary of Healthy Community Healthy Youth hosting Prairie Fire Children's Theatre. Auditions for the upcoming production of The performances are 7 p.m. Friday, July 13, and 1 p.m. Saturday July 14, in the auditorium.
