Shelter house worker needed 

There will be a cribbage tournament beginning 1:15 p.m. Saturday at the Welcome Legion. All area residents are invited to join them for fun in the afternoon.

Welcome council listens to appeal 

The Welcome City Council this week held an appeal hearing dealing with property taxes assessed to Elm Creek Trailer Court in Welcome, in the wake of alleged unpaid maintenance fees and utility bills. Trailer court owner Tim Windsor and his attorney, Carl Christensen, discussed the matter with the council and the city's attorney, Michael Edman.

In honor of former employee Bruce Larson, Easy Automation Inc. is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student pursuing a degree in a program from his area of expertise. The scholarship is for the 2018-2019 academic year.

New Year's rides offered 

A collaboration between the Fairmont ethanol plant and the sole licensed taxi service in the community will result in safe transportation on New Year's Eve at no cost to passengers in Fairmont, Truman, Sherburn, Welcome and Guckeen. Starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Green Plains and Royalty Rides will join forces to provide free rides, whether to a house party, a local bar, a dining establishment or even Royalty Rides owner Dahmon Gullord had heard of free cab rides being offered in Mankato on Thanksgiving and was trying to come up with an idea for a similar program in Fairmont.

Kids enjoyed Shop with Cop 

Seventeen children from six families participated with the officers from Welcome/ Sherburn and some of their families, a Sheriff's deputy and the Trimont chief of police. They would like to thank all those who contributed and made the program possible this year.
