Many drawn to Harkin Store 

Several families on history tours came to the New Ulm area Sunday due in part to the Wilder Pageant in Walnut Grove. The Harkin Store experienced a rush of families in the afternoon for their special programing, which was dedicated to Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Postponed by floods, Walnut Grove's Wilder Pageant set to open this weekend 

Cast and crew are working feverishly between rehearsals this week to remove a thick scum of flood mud coating the stage of the popular Wilder Pageant in Walnut Grove, Minn., ahead of Thursday's opening performance. The family-oriented outdoor drama based on the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder was to have opened last Friday, but the normally tame Plum Creek swelled way beyond its banks, swamping the grounds a mile west of town and putting center stage under water.

Flood damage calls for funding help 

Governor Mark Dayton, Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, and U.S. Rep. Colin Peterson have been through the area looking at damage caused by flooding this past week. While flash flooding caused by last week's heavy rain was not widespread, it caused significant damage where it did happen.

Thumbs Down: The torrential rains that have been pounding southwest Minnesota is leading to unprecedented flooding for this time of year. The power of water was shown in the washed out roads near Redwood Falls and Walnut Grove this past week.

Dayton travels to SW Minnesota to assess weather damage 

The governor will meet Friday will local officials and community members in Slayton, Walnut Grove and Balaton. He'll be joined on his trip by U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson, Sen. Tina Smith, Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson and Emergency Management Director Joe Kelly.

Flash flood warnings across Lyon, Murray and Redwood counties 

The National Weather Service has issued flooding warnings for southeastern Lyon County in southwestern Minnesota until 1:15 p.m. At 7:36 a.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Six to eight inches of rain have fallen.
