Victim identified in Alexandria fatal fire; two others recovering in Twin Cities hospital 

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.-A 19-year-old woman who died in an apartment fire in Alexandria on Monday, Jan. 15 has been identified as Shandiin Goodbird of Alexandria. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office positively identified the woman, according to a news release issued Thursday afternoon by the Alexandria Police Department.

Smoking led to fatal fire that killed 2 in Alexandria, say investigators 

The Alexandria Fire Department, the Alexandria Police Department and the State Fire Marshal completed the investigation and said the fire at Viking City Mobile Home Park at 1611 6th Avenue will be classified as accidental. The Midwest Medical Examiner's report shows that both James "Jimmy" Chandler, 49, and his girlfriend, Rose Couillard, 59, died from "inhalation of products of combustion" or smoke.

2 dead after Minn. mobile home fire 

According to a news release from the Alexandria Police Department, shortly before 5 a.m., the Alexandria Fire Department, North Ambulance and the Alexandria Police Department were called to a mobile home that was on fire with smoke and flames visible. The home was inside the Viking City mobile home park near 6th Avenue and Victor Street.

Holly Anderson in Chania, Crete - Greece on July 5, 2015, her daughter Lucy Kane's birthday. Anderson, 62, a New York artist, poet and playwright who grew up in Cottage Grove, died Dec. 22 from a 9/11-related cancer.
