Touchstone Finalist: Habitat for Humanity 

On a muggy September afternoon, Erik and Mandy DeFoe, along with two of their seven children, spent time with a staple gun. It was at the site of their Habitat for Humanity home in Superior.

Touchstone Finalist: Lake County DAC 

It's always a happening place at the Lake County Developmental Achievement Center in Two Harbors. Folks are busy making rugs with looms, creating mosaic art or watercolor paintings, or even shredding paper for work.

Shed Destroyed after Fire Near Two Harbors 

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says the fire was reported just before 6 p.m. On E Shore Rd. in Pequaywan Township, which is located west of Two Harbors. Upon arrival, firefighters found the shed fully engulfed, and suppressed the fire.

First Day of the Lake County Fair 

The Lake County Fair kicked off in Two Harbors today. As part of Senior Citizen & Veteran Appreciation Day, they had a Senior Luncheon and announced the Senior Citizen of the Year.

Feeling Superior: People, groups, initiatives focused on future of Superior Hiking Trail 

Larry Sampson's retirement from work for the federal government in 2005 coincided with the Superior Hiking Trail's expansion from Two Harbors, through Duluth, and on to the Wisconsin border near Jay Cooke State Park. By 2007, he was trail maintenance chief for the southern 100 miles of the trail - with the final segment completed just last year with the installation of a bridge over the Red River.
