Fire Destroys Cabin in Cook County 

A 911 caller reported a structure engulfed in flames at 6:20 p.m. The fire was at 4 County Road 34 in Lutsen Township. Firefighters from the Lutsen, Tofte, Schroeder, and Grand Marais fire departments responded to the scene, along with U.S. Forest Service fire units due to the potential of fire spreading into the surrounding forest.

Resort owners and outfitters who need to get ready for an influx of summer visitors are anxiously awaiting ice-out on many lakes across northern Minnesota. While recent warm weather has helped with melting, a number of lakes remain largely ice-covered with less than a week to go until Saturday's Minnesota fishing opener.
