Southland seems likely to close its elementary school

Our View: Southland communities are depending on a workable plan 

In June, after voters in the Southland School District resoundingly defeated a proposed $24.56 million bond issue to renovate and update aging facilities, disappointed Superintendent Jeff Sampson said, "There was no Plan B." Eventually, however, Plan B came along. It was consider consolidating Southland, which serves the Adams, Dexter, Elton, Johnsburg, Rose Creek and Taopi areas, with the LeRoy-Ostrander public schools.

Drivers to see detour change on Highway 56 near Adams 

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be starting a new stage of Adams reconstruction work to replace major utilities in the community. This new phase in construction is expected to last until Aug. 15, weather permitting.
