Steelworkers Ratify New Labor Contract with Cleveland-Cliffs 

Cleveland-Cliffs and its unions have a new labor contract. The steelworkers announced Thursday evening that they ratified the four-year agreement, which covers about 1800 people.

Cliffs and USW reach four year tentative labor contract 

Cleveland-Cliffs and the United Steelworkers have reached a tentative agreement for a four year labor contract that would cover 1,800 union workers, officials announced late Sunday. If ratified by local union shops, the tentative contract would cover USW workers at Cleveland Cliffs' operations in both Minnesota and Michigan.

USW reports significant progress in labor talks with Cleveland-Cliffs 

The United Steelworkers Friday night said significant progress has been made in labor contract talks with iron ore producer Cleveland-Cliffs. "We made tons of progress this morning, "Joe Fredrickson, president of USW Local 6860 at United Taconite in Eveleth and Forbes said.

Minnesota DNR sued over Nashwauk mining permit 

Cleveland Cliffs has sued the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources , demanding that it - and not Mesabi Metallics - be given the ore-mining permits to parts of the defunct Essar Steel operation in Nashwauk. The lawsuit is the latest development in the long effort to jump-start the $2 billion mine and taconite project at the Iron Range site.
