Rochester Man Charged after 227 Pounds of Marijuana Seized 

A 44-year-old Rochester man is facing drug and firearm charges after authorities say they seized around 227 pounds of marijuana and a Glock handgun during a search last Thursday. Court records show Jeffrey James Lawstuen is charged in Olmsted County with one count of first-degree sale of 25 kilograms or more of marijuana, one count of first-degree possession of 50 kilograms or more of marijuana, one count of importing a controlled substance across state borders and one count of possessing a firearm after a conviction for a crime of violence.

Stewartville man pleads guilty in domestic abuse incident 

Samuel David Earl Steward, 34, pleaded guilty in Olmsted County District Court. As part of the plea, felony charges of domestic assault by strangulation and fifth-degree controlled substance possession were dismissed as well as a second misdemeanor domestic assault charge.

Pure Pleasure employee stabbed after confronting alleged shoplifter 

A Pure Pleasure store employee was hospitalized Wednesday morning after being stabbed during a shoplifting incident at the adult store in Stewartville. Lens on History: The Standard of filling stations 

Rochester's original Standard Oil filling station was built on the corner of what was then called West College and Main Street. Today, 405 First Ave. SW may seem like an odd location for a gas station, but in 1917, that corner was on the crossroads of the Black and Yellow Auto Trail, the Dubuque Trail and the Stewartville to Lake City Road as they passed through Rochester.

Answer Man: Stewartville is not a suburb - yet 

Dear Answer Man, yesterday, I was driving up U.S. 63, and I don't think it was even a mile out of Stewartville when I saw a sign for the Rochester city limits. Does that mean I had arrived in Rochester? I'm not sure what the definition of a suburb is, but I assume it's when two jurisdictions meet up.
