Second UMR chancellor went through soul searching before applying 

When Lori Carrell was named chancellor of the University of Minnesota Rochester last month, one might think the appointment was the fulfillment of a lifelong aspiration. In fact, Carrell said the idea of becoming UMR's top leader wasn't actively on her radar until her predecessor, now-retired UMR Chancellor Stephen Lemkuhle, encouraged her to consider the post.

'Park and Lake' is a rare misstep for Ten Thousand Things 

Ten Thousand Things' Park and Lake is a collaboration between its cast, who devised comedic characters, and playwright Kira Obolensky, who crafted a script about a crisis at a car wash. There are a lot of different ways to combine devised and scripted elements onstage, but somehow Park and Lake unites the worst of both worlds in a rare dud from what's ordinarily one of Minnesota's most compelling companies.

Attorneys of the Year: Tenant Remedies Action Legal Team 

The three lawyers on Faegre Baker Daniels' Tenant Remedies Action Legal Team spearheaded a case against Stephen Frenz, Equity Residential Holdings and the Apartment Shop, which together constituted one of the largest private landlords/property managers in the Twin Cities. The team's pro bono client, IX of Powderhorn Park, works to improve conditions for apartment-dwelling families living in south Minneapolis, most of whom are Somali or Latino.
