Pastor rejects gay musicians from Minnesota Catholic Church 

Members of a rural Catholic parish in eastern Minnesota are at odds over the dismissal of three gay men from a church musical ensemble after the new pastor learned they are in same-sex marriages. The Pioneer Press reports that Bob Bernard, one of the dismissed men, said he has no plans to leave the church and that none of them wants the pastor's decision to lead to protests against the Catholic Church.

Rural Minnesota Catholic parish dismisses musicians over gay marriages 

TAYLORS FALLS, Minn.-For weeks now, a Catholic parish in the rural St. Croix River Valley north of the Twin Cities has been praying through turmoil, brought by a trio of startling dismissals. On one hand, even many of the most distressed don't want any of the 400 or so parishioners to leave the Church of St. Joseph in Taylors Falls and the Church of St. Francis Xavier in Shafer.

Lindstrom Council carves early levy from four to one percent hike 

There were just three residents in the audience for last week's Lindstrom property tax levy hearing. The council then acted 4-1 with David Waldoch opposed, on a stripped-down budget from what council proposed in the fall for the maximum.

2017 new faces, old friends, the year in review 

The North Branch Area public schools community is sending positive wishes to Superintendent Dr. Deb Henton who is in the running to be selected as superintendent of the year nationally. Henton was named Minnesota's Superintendent of the Year in the fall.

Shafer Council agrees to host Hockey Day Minnesota event, ok's MSA rates 

Council member Tim O'Connor was absent. No public hearings were scheduled so the council quickly moved to consent agenda which passed 4-0.
