Descendant of 1883 tornado victim to play at remembrance 

On this date, 135 years ago, a tornado devastated Rochester. Striking on a Tuesday evening, the tornado leveled 135 homes and killed 37 people.

ASU partners with Mayo Clinic to move germ-killing clays closer to medical use 

Researchers at Arizona State University and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, have found that at least one type of blue clay may help fight disease-causing bacteria in wounds, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The findings appear in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents .

Amateur Update: Senior Softball Tournament returns to Rochester 

Looking at our event calendar you will notice a ton of youth events, and rightfully so as there are more kids playing sports than adults. Also, kids travel with their whole families most of the time, so these events are good for area businesses.

Rochester man killed in Fillmore County crash 

Edward Martin Jr., 64, of Rochester, died Sunday as he was riding his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Highway 43 about 10 miles north of Mabel, where the highway meets the south fork of the Root River. Martin lost control and the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a sign.

A Rochester teenager has been charged in connection with a string of reports of multiple shots being fired between two cars last week. Thaddeus Merritt, 19, faces a felony charge of drive-by shooting.

Man arrested in robbery says he must have been sleepwalking 

A Rochester man was arrested early Saturday after he allegedly punched another man, pointed a gun at him and took his wallet. Anthony Hemphill, 22, may face a felony charge of first-degree aggravated robbery for the incident, according to Rochester Police Capt.

Canvassing Rochester's Primary Election results 

ROCHESTER, Minn.- The Canvassing Board confirmed the election results and the city clerk says we are now in what's called the contest period. The contest period means that from Friday until Wednesday at 5pm, any candidate has the chance to ask for a recount.
