A summer arts fair 

I always enjoy going to the annual Brookings Summer Arts Fair - the variety of art mediums and items, the food, the activities, the music. But sometimes being among humongous groups of people make me a little nervous.

Crime and Accidents for July 16 

No report was in on an assist incident reported at 8:57 p.m. Saturday on the 400 block of North 3rd Street,a SMarshall Police said. MARSHALL - An intoxicated man was released to a responsible party in an incident reported at 11:13 p.m. Saturday on the intersection of North Seventh Street and Fairview Street, Marshall Police said.

Flood damage calls for funding help 

Governor Mark Dayton, Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, and U.S. Rep. Colin Peterson have been through the area looking at damage caused by flooding this past week. While flash flooding caused by last week's heavy rain was not widespread, it caused significant damage where it did happen.

Senior Caregiver at Center of Criminal Case Faces New Legal Action 

A western Minnesota caregiver already at the center of a criminal manslaughter case in Redwood County is now facing new legal action. This time, a new civil lawsuit has been filed by the family of 101-year-old resident Evelyn Schweim, who died in 2017, against Francisco Javier Ramirez and a nursing staffing company, All Temporaries Midwest, Inc., according to the Hennepin County District Court case.

A 16-year-old in Minnesota had recently gotten his licence. But then a sinkhole swallowed his car 

The Renville County Sheriff's Office says the sinkhole formed after a culvert under the road washed out. The teen wasn't injured REDWOOD FALLS, Minn.

Minnesota teen climbs to safety after rain washes out road 

OLIVIA, Minn.-A 16-year-old driver was had to climb to safety after the car he was driving plunged into a crevasse after heavy rains washed out a road south-central Minnesota. The driver was wearing his seatbelt and the driver's airbag deployed as the vehicle stood nearly vertical in the gap left by the washed out culvert on a township road.

Excessive Heat Watch - Few Atmospheric Fireworks? 

Excessive Heat Watches have been issued for Wednesday across the Twin Cities metro as we get another round of heat and humidity across southern Minnesota just in time for Independence Day festivities. Highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to low 90s Wednesday across the Twin Cities metro with the chance of a few showers and thunderstorms - especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

Rising waters, wind and oppressive heat hitting Minnesota 

High winds and rising waters smacked parts of Minnesota Tuesday, while oppressive heat and a threat of more rain could turn some Fourth of July celebrations into a wet mess. An excessive heat watch is in effect Wednesday for much of the Twin Cities, where high humidity will combine with temperatures in the 90s to make it feel like 100 to 105 degrees.

Flood warnings issued in area 

The city of Russell is under a flood warning. The National Weather Service said the Redwood River at Russell was at 15 feet, having peaked at 15.73 on June 24, dropping and re-reaching the 15-foot mark as of Sunday.
