Security, Indian Country among U.S. attorney's priorities 

Erica MacDonald recently returned to the Minnesota U.S. Attorney's Office, this time as the boss, where she will have a chance to return to federal issues that are important to her. She was a prosecutor there for eight years, then a District Court judge in Dakota County, and was appointed U.S. attorney by President Donald Trump earlier this year.

'Totally Solvable:' Homeless Conference is Future-Focused 

Hundreds of people on a mission to end homelessness are in Duluth Thursday and Friday as the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless is having its annual conference at the DECC. "If you care about education, if you care about healthcare, if you care about thriving economies, you have to care about housing," MCH Executive Director Senta Leff said.

Minnesota woman recovers from addiction on reservation 

Teena LaPointe blew out her knee on the first day of the Anishinaabe Spirit Run - a 200-mile trek from Red Lake, to the Mash-ka-wisen Sobriety Powwow, near Duluth. She's been taking ibuprofen for the pain.

MPCA issues air quality alert through Sunday 

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an air quality alert for the northern half of Minnesota effective Thursday beginning at 3 p.m. through Sunday at 12 p.m. The affected area includes Brainerd, Bemidji, Duluth, Ely, and Moorhead and the tribal nations of Mille Lacs, Fond du Lac, Grand Portage, Leech Lake, and Red Lake. A large area of Canadian wildfire smoke is moving into far northwest Minnesota and will move south and east covering much of the northern half of the state by early Friday morning.
