Heard on the Street: Mayo credit union paid $1.68 million for commercial plaza 

The Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union purchased a Second Street commercial center next to its Rochester headquarters for $1.68 million in cash last week. The credit union bought the 12,400-square-foot Corporate Gardens Plaza complex at 2215 Second St. SW on Feb. 15. The 18-year-old Corporate Gardens houses multiple tenants, including Joe's Liquors and Southwest Chiropractic & Rehabilitation .

Minnesota group hopes to give kids access to microscopes 

Many remember that moment of discovery when they looked through the lens of a microscope in science class and saw a whole new world. The challenge is that most school districts can afford only a few pricey microscopes, giving kids short views of that new world amid lectures about being careful with the equipment.

Two crashes in Highway 52 in Olmsted County 

The Minnesota State Patrol says the first happened just after 9 am on Highway 52 in Oronoco. 33-year-old Jordan David Grenell of Rochester was driving a car south near 7th Street and collided with the rear of a southbound semi driven by 38-year-old Michael James Gordey of Cloquet.

Pine Island firefighters save two dogs from house fire 

Pine Island firefighters were called to a residential fire at 7525 117th St. NW in New Haven Township at around 3:46 p.m., according to Capt. Scott Behrns of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.
