Habitat for Humanity receives $10,000 grants 

East Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity thanks Stearns Bank of North Branch and Pine City for the wonderful generous donations of $10,000 each that will assist building homes for three deserving families during this 2018 construction season. The first family is that of a 100 percent disabled veteran, the father of two small children.

Rush City business owner offers to pay for college for local high school seniors 

A man who never went to college has offered full-ride community college scholarships to every graduate of Rush City High School this year. The unprecedented offer from businessman and Rush City resident Dennis Frandsen came "out of the blue," said Pine Technical and Community College President Joe Mulford.

Teen driver missed stop sign in fatal crash near Mora 

Authorities say a teen driver missed a stop sign and caused a crash that killed her and her boyfriend at an intersection in Kanabec County. Eighteen-year-old Alexis Hasser and 16-year-old Gavin Butenhoff were killed Saturday when their car collided with a pickup truck east of Mora.
