Parents Say Zombie Assignment at Minnesota High School Promoted Violence, Bullying 

This month, ninth grade students at Parkers Prairie High School were asked to name three people they would sacrifice in a zombie apocalypse, and why they would pick them to die. Parkers Prairie is about 25 miles north of Alexandria.

Boy, 11, shoots 8-point buck 

It was 7 a.m. Sunday, one day after Minnesota's traditional firearms deer season opened, when this 8-point brute with a 20-inch inside spread walked into the open below a deer stand between Parkers Prairie and Bertha. Coen Johnson, 11, of Milaca, was nudged by his mother inside the stand.

Some city-owned liquor stores in western Minnesota struggle financially 

Barnesville's municipal liquor store, Fire Hall Liquors, lost $8,582 in 2016, 2.1 percent of total sales. The city will hold a public hearing about the store on Dec. 11. MOORHEAD, Minn.-Several western Minnesota municipalities face difficult questions about whether they should remain in the liquor store business and, if they do, how they can do that profitably.

Minnesota man airlifted after farming accident 

After having his arm pinned in a corn picker for an hour, a Douglas County, Minn. man was freed and flown by helicopter to North Memorial Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 9. According to a media release, around 3:30 p.m., the Douglas County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office and was given information about a farming accident believed to be in Douglas County.

Head-on crash on icy road kills man from Henning, Minn., injures wife 

Icy roads likely played a role in a fatal crash Wednesday in Otter Tail County that killed a man and seriously injured his wife. Kenneth Dunker, 71, of Henning, Minn., was killed in the two-vehicle crash, which occurred about 8:10 a.m. on Hwy.

Henning man, 71, dies in two-vehicle crash in western Minn. 

One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 29 north of Parkers Prairie in Otter Tail County in western Minnesota on Wednesday morning. The State Patrol hasn't yet released the name of the 71-year-old victim from Henning, who wasn't wearing a seat belt.
