U-Haul crash in Fillmore County sends pair to hospital 

A pair of women driving a U-Haul truck were injured Sunday in a crash east of Ostrander on U.S. Highway 63. Debra Ann Lawson, 59, of Park Hills, Mo., was driving north on Highway 63 in a 2018 Ford truck pulling a Chevy Lumina on a trailer at about 12:25 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle and entered into the right ditch, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report. Lawson and her passenger, Courtney Marie Aldridge, 26, of Park Hills, Mo., were both transported via Spring Valley Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys with non-life threatening injuries.

Southeastern Minnesota's heavy rainfall washes away roads 

Heavy rain fall swept throughout areas of Southeastern Minnesota Saturday afternoon into the night, causing flash flooding in Fillmore County. According to the Fillmore County Sheriff, Tom Kaase, some residents reported as much as 8 inches of total rainfall Saturday night.

Town of LeRoy faces big decision on public pool 

Some people in the LeRoy area don't know it, but the LeRoy Community Pool is still open as of right now. Although the indoor pool is a staple of the town and has been for decades, the pool's committee was informed this January that the pool would no longer receive funding from its major contributors.

Over $1 million going to Fillmore County road construction 

Ostrander will receive $314,000 for reconstruction and utility work along County State Aid Highways 1 and 3. Carrolton Township is being given $475,000 for reconstruction and paving along Goodview Drive and $545,200 for reconstruction and paving along Heron Road. Those are three of the 36 infrastructure projects sharing in approximately $25.3 million from the Minnesota Department of Transportation's Local Road Improvement Program.
