Tired of the rain' 

Derrick Lusk looked out over his cornfield-turned-lake last Thursday, then turned and saw more of the same in what was once a pasture. His buddy, Brandon Hinkeldey, was braving the chilly water filling the field to unplug the culvert connecting the two tracts of ag land under a driveway so the gravel wouldn't wash out.

Sheriff's Report 6-28-18 

A deputy assisted a motorist at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The deputy unlocked a vehicle so the person could retrieve needed medications.

Whole county invited to Okabena for... 

The entire county is invited to Okabena July 4 for the community's annual Independence Day celebration. The fun actually gets under way the night prior, as the Windom-based "Blood Brothers" are set to perform at the Okabena Municipal Liquor Store starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Commissioners Call Emergency MEETINGFree Access 

Jackson County Commissioners will meet in special session Wednesday morning to consider approving a resolution declaring a state of emergency as related to recent flooding across the county. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Jackson County Courthouse in Jackson.

More local townships, cities moving... 

Voting in nearly half of Jackson County's townships and cities will be done exclusively by mail this year. Registered voters in the townships of Alba, Belmont, Enterprise, Ewington, Heron Lake, LaCrosse, Rost, West Heron Lake and Wisconsin - and the cities of Alpha and Okabena - will cast ballots in all federal, state, county and municipal elections exclusively by mail this year.
