Minnesota student studies impact of free press 

One local college student is studying what these journalists are facing and how difficult it can be to deliver the news in today's climate. Worthington native, Olive Wolyniec, is studying journalism at the Carleton University in Northfield, Minnesota.

Next to Normal- A Bold, Brave, and Breathtaking Musical 

The Northfield Arts Guild and director Eric Parrish will present the Tony and Pulitzer Prize - winning musical Next to Normal at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, 411 Third Street West, Northfield. Performances will take place on July 27, 28, 29 and August 3, 4, 5 with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm.

Michael Frett graduated with a B.A. degree in biology from Carleton College, Northfield, Minn., at its 144th commencement exercises on June 9. He is the son of Peter and Kathy Frett of Salem. Mikaela Marie Coose graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering with a minor in mathematics from Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Ill., on May 5. Coose, a 2014 graduate of Wilmot High School, was an accomplished and active member of the school, including serving as president of the Society of Women Engineers.

City of Northfield Extending Advisory Warning on Cannon... 

Northfield- The City is extending its advisory warning to the public to consider avoiding direct contact with the water on the Cannon River downstream of Northfield in Dakota County and Goodhue County through 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6 as a result of a discharge of wastewater from the Northfield Wastewater Treatment Plant on the early morning of Tuesday, July 2, 2018. Water quality test samples collected Wednesday, July 4, show bacteria levels have decreased below recreational water quality levels.

Civil War artifacts return to Minnesota

City of Northfield Provides Advisory Warning on Water Recreational... 

Northfield- The City is providing an advisory warning to the public to consider avoiding direct contact with the water on the Cannon River downstream of Northfield through 6:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6th. The City has contacted governmental jurisdictions in Dakota County and Goodhue County that are downstream from Northfield who are determining if there are any public health notifications or restrictions that are appropriate.

Survey: KCC tops in job placement 

Students learn in Kankakee Community College's computer graphic and technology lab. KCC President John Avendano said 90 percent of KCC graduates stay in the local community, get jobs in the community and pay taxes in the community.
