Credit card scam hits Casey's stores in Chisago County 

Four times in two days a man entered a Casey's General Store in Chisago County this month and bought thousands of dollars of prepaid gift cards. All the purchases were fraudulent, police said.

Relay for Life Honorary Chair is all about early detection 

North Branch Outlet Mall is home for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, July 14, this year. There are many activities for all between 4-10 p.m., including games, food , music and a large silent auction until 7 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. A survivors/caregivers reception sponsored by Hermann Insurance and Brinks Market is at 5 p.m. Opening ceremonies are at 6 p.m. A survivors/caregivers lap at 7 p.m. is led by bagpiper Paul Dennison.

8th District DFL candidates to debate 

Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidates for 8th Congressional District seat will debate 7-9 p.m. July 23 at the Chalberg Theatre on the Central Lakes College campus in Brainerd. The five DFL candidates are Kirsten Kennedy, current mayor of North Branch; Michelle Lee, former Duluth television news anchor; Jason Metsa, current Minnesota House representative from District 6B; Joe Radinovich, former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives; and Soren Sorensen, a progressive activist from Bemidji.

Chisago County Filing Statements 

I'm excited about my recent decision to run for the Chisago County Commissioner District 1 . I'm concerned that our current commissioner for this district no longer has the energy or the focus to continue to represent Chisago County residents adequately on the County Board.

Car struck from behind ends up on side on Hwy. 42 

Patricia Ann Callanan, 66, of Kellogg, was driving south in a 2012 Dodge at about 10:54 a.m. Sunday on Hwy. 42 at 608th Street when she stopped in the southbound lane to make a left-hand turn onto 608th Street.
