Town's Edge to bring 371 housing units to area 

One comment period on the environmental aspects of a major North Branch development plan wrapped up in early September, and now another North Branch Environmental Assessment Worksheet is open for public review until October 24. Environmental Assessment Worksheets are mandatory on large scale development sites in Minnesota and this new EAW is for the 371 unit Town's Edge. This plat is proposed by Graphic Homes in the northwest corner of Forest Boulevard and 375th.

Sheriff, commissioners and other candidates field questions 

The public attending last week's MN House candidate forum were clearly disappointed that neither of the incumbent Republican state Representatives participated. According to Moderator Brett Carlson; Brian Johnson did not respond to his invitation and Anne Neu said she would be unable to attend.

North Branch School Board celebrates JRROTC, sets 2019 levy 

There were four of six School Board members in attendance at last week's North Branch School Board meeting to congratulate the Air Force Junior ROTC program participants on recent honors. The officers' group was introduced by North Branch High School's Colonel Paul Johnson.

Prelim budget set for six percent increase; special animal request OK'd 

Shafer City Council met for a regular meeting September 4. All members were present with eight people in attendance. After consenting agenda, the council heard a very brief introduction from a representative from Green Step Cities.
