County Road 115 open house scheduled in Nisswa 

Representatives from WSB and Crow Wing County Highway Department will be in Nisswa for an open house about County Road 115. north and south side of Round Lake and to County Road 127, another rural minor collector which connects to County Highway 3, a major north-south route classified as a "minor arterial."

Officials look at expanding Paul Bunyan Expressway in northern Minn. 

Personnel from communities along major travel corridors north and south of Bemidji met with District 5A Rep. Matt Bliss, R-Pennington, here to discuss the future of State Highway 371. The highway, specifically between Little Falls and Bemidji, has been a point of discussion at the local and state levels for more than two decades.

Brainerd schools may see new Baxter elementary, but not Harrison 

There may be a new Baxter Elementary School in the near future in the Brainerd School District-but there most likely won't be a new Harrison Elementary School. The Brainerd School Board Monday took a step closer toward a finalized plan for its six elementary schools-Baxter, Garfield, Harrison, Lowell, Nisswa and Riverside.

Gaby Haire, the 2015 Elks National Foundation Scholarship recipient, received an invitation from the Elks National Foundation to attend grand convention next summer as an Elks Scholar Leader. She will serve as a point person for a group of scholars throughout convention.

Municipal liquor stores sales up, profits down 

Nisswa's liquor sales stood out on the list, with $3,512,358 in sales and a net profit of $302,039. Although this year's figure is down slightly from the previous year's profits$338,684it's nearly six times the profits in 2008, which were $51,792 between Spirits of Nisswa and Ye Olde Pickle Factory , Nisswa's two municipal stores.
