Two drivers seriously injured in Fort Road crash Wednesday 

The driver of semi and pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 111 and Nicollet County Road 5 in Granby Township, north of Nicollet at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday. A 2000 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Bradley J. Block, 60, New Ulm, was eastbound on CR 5 when it collided with a 2005 Kenworth tractor driven by David T. Gorka, 49, Burtrum, who was northbound on Highway 111.

Residents object to assessment 

On Tuesday, the City Council held a public hearing on adopting the final assessment rolls for 2017 utility, street and alley improvements. There were 14 improvements on the list.

MnDOT Announces Long-Term Highway Improvement Plan 

Nov. 06 -- MANKATO -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation's recently announced long-term investment plan provides clarity on what regional highway improvements to expect in the coming years. The 10-year capital highway investment plan, or CHIP, serves as MnDOT's annual check-in for the public of both funded and planned projects.

Revisit 6 retail titans from Minnesota's 20th-century department store heyday 

Due this month from the Minnesota Historical Society Press, "Thank You for Shopping" chronicles the history of department stores in Minnesota - from their rise in the late 1800s through their decline many decades later. The book was written by Kristal Leebrick, a Minnesota journalist and author whose interest in department stores evolved out of her 2013 release: "Dayton's: A Twin Cities Institution."
