Woman charged in arson at downtown Minneapolis store 

A 38-year-old woman is accused of setting a fire at a downtown Minneapolis store that caused more than $500,000 in damage. Lewonda Jones, of Brooklyn Center, was charged last week in Hennepin County with two counts of arson.

Nicollet woman faces counterfeit currency possession charge 

A 41-year-old Nicollet woman faces a gross misdemeanor possession of counterfeit currency charge in Nicollet County District Court, after allegedly passing $200 worth of counterfeit bills at the Cabin Bar in Nicollet April 29. A gross misdemeanor possession of counterfeit currency charge was filed against Jodie M. Carlson, 230 Cedar St., Nicollet, on July 31. Her first court appearance was set for 8:45 a.m. Sept. 4. According to court documents, the Cabin Bar owner told Nicollet County Investigator Marc Chadderdon that he was preparing to deposit the previous evening's sales April 30 when he discovered someone passed two counterfeit $100 bills at the bar.

Amboy teen faces six felony sex charges 

A 19-year-old Amboy teenager faces six felony criminal sexual conduct charges for allegedly assaulting a girl beginning when she was about nine years old. Three 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct charges and three 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct charges were filed against Cameron L. Forbrook of Amboy in Nicollet County District Court July 27. His initial court appearance was set for 9:45 a.m. Aug. 28. According to court documents, the Nicollet County Sheriff's Office received a call April 1 indicating that a juvenile female disclosed to family members that she had been experiencing sexual abuse from Forbrook.

Nicollet woman dies in crash 

A Nicollet woman was killed in a collision at about 3:41 p.m. Friday at the CR 11 and CR 50 intersection in Judson Township, Blue Earth County. According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office, Mary Louise Blank, 70, of rural Nicollet died in the crash.

Fatal car/motorhome collision in southern Minnesota 

Emergency personnel were called to the intersection of County Road 11 and County Road 50 around 3:41 pm. The Sheriff's Office says Mary Louise Blank, 70 of Nicollet, was driving north in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu while Dale Baertsch, 57 of Carver, was westbound in a 2004 Four Winds motorhome.

Django Festival All Stars @ Dakota Jazz Club You can't swing a dead cat these days without hitting a band eager to emulate the inimitable Hot Club du France sound that guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli fashioned in the 1930s. The Django Festival All Stars separate themselves by composing their own music in the spirit of that sound, by arising from the same Manouche gypsy tribe as Django, and by playing with glorious spirit and dexterity.

Greg Ward Trio @ Icehouse Ward's frequent trips up from Chicago to the Icehouse have generated durable pleasures due to the variety of his ensembles and material, as well as the chances the saxophonist takes from both inside and outside the mainstream. His trio, with Dennis Carroll on bass and Greg Artry on drums, tackles standards the way someone with a good arm throws a boomerang-with great, spacious arcs and reliably neat returns.
