Affordable rural housing needs hit home for western Minnesota mayor 

Montevideo, Minn., Mayor Debra Lee Fader joins Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton for a photo op during the 2011 Pheasant Opener. Fader said she loves her role as mayor but is withdrawing her candidacy for a third term after struggling to find affordable housing since she and her husband sold their motel business.

E-Z Chassis gives new life to pickups: Not to mention its small town Minnesota location 

Ed Lipinski turned his hobby and passion for old cars and pickup trucks into a business, opening E-Z Chassis Swaps to sell kits he designed making it possible to mount older model pickup trucks on the chassis of Chevrolet S10 pickups. Minnesota woman shot twice in back as she fled before former lover turned gun on himself 

MONTEVIDEO, Minn.-The Montevideo Police Department has essentially wrapped up its investigation into a shooting and suicide, according to Montevideo Police Chief Adam Christopher. David Dale Schwartz, 55, was waiting inside when Angela Marie Haugerud, 41, arrived home on July 10. As she attempted to run out the front door, he shot her twice in the back before turning the gun on himself.

Betsy Hermanson is 2018's Kernel Days Grand Marshal 

History has always been an interest for Wells' 2018 Kernel Days Grand Marshal, Betsy Hermanson, so it's only right that she become a part of Wells history as one of its Grand Marshals. She jokingly says though she was not born here, she feels becoming the Grand Marshal has solidified her place in the community.
