Minneota to form volunteer force 

The Minneota city council recently approved the committee's recommendation to discontinue the city's primary service area license through the state, setting up the next step of establishing a volunteer first responder squad and hiring someone to serve as its director. "Their PSA covers the city of Minneota, along with multiple townships and small cities such as Taunton and Ghent.

Minneota looks at volunteer ambulance service 

With only a couple months left before North Memorial will no longer provide ambulance service to the community, the Minneota City Council on Monday discussed the possibility of forming a volunteer force of first responders. North Memorial had notified the council earlier this year that they would no longer manage the Minneota ambulance service beginning in January.

Crime for Sept. 26 

An 18-year-old male was cited for speeding in an incident reported at 10:49 a.m. Monday on Minnesota Highway 23, the Lyon County Sheriff's Department said. MARSHALL - A school bus stop arm violation was reported at 8:30 a.m. Monday on the intersection of Jewett Street and Parkside Drive, Marshall Police said.

Monday meeting will discuss Minneota ambulance service 

Minneota city officials are seeking the public's feedback on the future of ambulance services in Minneota and nearby communities. A special meeting of the Minneota City Council is planned for Monday evening.

Residents hear more about Highway 68 construction 

Area residents had a chance to learn more about planned construction affecting Highway 68 north of Marshall - although not all the details of the project are available yet. The Minnesota Department of Transportation held an open-house style meeting Thursday at the Minneota Community Center to talk about the project.
