Breaking the Ice: Opera background the right note for judge's career 

Opera singing offered limited career opportunities but was great preparation for law school and legal practice, according to 7th Judicial District Judge Gail Kulick. Kulick, whose chambers are in Milaca, was appointed to the bench last year in the 7th District, which covers Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Otter Tail, Stearns, Todd and Wadena counties.

Teen hit on MN Highway 23 when clearing off deer 

A 16-year-old was hit by a car between Foley and Milaca as she pulled a deer off Minnesota Highway 23 on Friday evening. The Milaca girl was hit by an Oldsmobile and taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
