Legislature needs to extend pre-K funding 

In 2017 Gov. Mark Dayton proposed the Legislature approve enough funding to ensure every Minnesota child could attend free, school-based pre-kindergarten. The Legislature fell a little short, but did respond with $50 million in one-time funding which did increase the amount of 4 year olds that could attend early learning school.

Avoiding havoc 

Many travelers who were caught up in this late winter storm Monday didn't want to push any further as the day progressed. Pat Foley and his wife, who are coming back home to Marshall, Minnesota from a vacation in South Carolina, tried to make it as far as they could.

5. Nine charged with cashing forged payroll checks at Minn. casino 

GRANITE FALLS, Minn.-Nine people are charged with cashing, or attempting to cash, nearly $18,000 in forged payroll checks at a local casino.

It's not spring yet 

A winter storm bringing several inches of wet, heavy snow hit southwest Minnesota Monday, and the National Weather Service said the region will be under a winter storm warning until 6 p.m. today. The weather conditions closed schools and some businesses on Monday and caused accidents around the region.

Crime for Feb. 26 

A Marshall man, 20, was cited for underage consumption in an incident reported at 2:52 a.m. Sunday on the 500 block of Village Drive, Marshall Police said. MARSHALL - Citations were issued for seatbelt violation and underage consumption in a traffic incident reported at 2:10 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of North O'Connell Street and McLaughlin Drive, Marshall Police said.

Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign 

United Community Action Partnership's food shelves located in Marshall, Tracy, Westbrook and Heron Lake/Okabena are participating in the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign. All shelves will be the accepting donations of food, hygiene items and monetary donations to purchase food through Monday, April 9. We thank you for your generous past support in helping to serve those with limited resources.

It's all for charity 

The Red Baron Arena and Expo in Marshall was a godsend to Prairie Home Hospice and Community Care. The larger venue has made it possible to double the seating capacity for its annual fundraiser.
