Kasson Becomes Location of First 'Freedom Rock' in Minnesota 

An Iowa artist is showing his gratitude for those who have served our country by painting patriotic murals on massive boulders he calls "Freedom Rocks." Since the early 2000s, Ray "Bubba" Sorensen has been traveling across Iowa with the goal of painting a Freedom Rock in every single county.

A Chief and His Department Responds to Support from Community 

It's been a little over a month since the investigation started, where former Kasson police officer Julio Baez, was found shot in a rural Mantorville field. In the last few weeks, charges have been filed against Baez.

Miss Minnesota Prepares for Miss America Competition 

In the midst of the #MeToo movement, the Miss America competition joins in to change its image to promote the message of empowering women. This year will be the first time the swimsuit category will not include in the competition.

Stagecoach Days rolls into Mantorville this weekend 

At 1 p.m. thespians in training, Melodrama Camp kids aged 5 to 8, will perform a short melodrama at the Opera House. The Mantorville Restoration Association will host a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. The rumor is that a sculpted cake of the Opera House will be served! Following the reception Mantorville Theatre Company's adult actors will perform "Mantorville Men and Ladies of Leisure" or "The Villain's Name was Greed" at 7:30 p.m. The play is an adaptation of the first melodrama produced by MTC.

Klobuchar staff, local farmers discuss farm bill, ag issues 

Area farmers and others interested in agriculture had a chance to speak with members of Sen. Amy Klobuchar's staff last week about agricultural issues and the 2018 farm bill at a session at the Dodge County Government Center in Mantorville. While the meeting was billed as a chance for farmers to find out about the progress of the farm bill, the question-and-answer period also gave the farmers a chance to tell the staff what their major concerns were.

West Concord Class of 1943 Holds 75th Consecutive Renuion 

This year, they met at the Hubbell House in Mantorville on Saturday, June 23rd. Over the years the reunions have been held in various places including the Hubbell House, Michaels Restaurant in Rochester, Edgewood Restaurant in Cannon Falls to mention a few.
