Federal grant approved for tribal veterans cemetery in northern Minnesota 

A $3.3 million federal grant has been awarded to the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe to build a veterans cemetery in Cass Lake in northern Minnesota. The grant will fund the construction of a main entrance, a combined administration and maintenance facility, roads, an assembly area, a committal shelter, 419 casketed sites, 32 cremains gravesites, 64 columbarium niches, a memorial wall, a memorial walk, landscaping, and supporting infrastructure.

Minn. Supreme Court Invalidates Law that Bars Meeting Disturbance 

The Minnesota Supreme Court says part of a disorderly conduct law that bars people from disturbing public meetings is unconstitutional and violates the First Amendment. The ruling comes in the case of a Little Falls woman who was escorted from a City Council meeting and charged with disorderly conduct after she refused to sit in the gallery.

Authorities Search For Four Stolen Vehicles in Morrison County 

Sheriff Shawn Larsen says two of the vehicles were taken from two different homes, one from a business east of Little Falls and another from the Rice Skunk Lake Public Access in Little Falls Township. Larsen says three of the vehicles were unlocked with keys inside and the fourth had its window smashed out.

Bass, pike regs on Pelican Lake up for review 

Existing bass and northern pike regulations on Pelican Lake in St. Louis County are among regulations on 32 lakes under review. During a series of public meetings, anglers and others can give their opinions about fishing regulations that are in place or are newly proposed on 32 lakes, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said.

Program gives students who age out of high school a path 

What do you do with a 21-year-old man who speaks limited English, has no work experience and hasn't had enough time to complete a high school diploma, but needs to help support his family? Now, staff with Career Solutions and the St. Cloud school district Adult Basic Education have found a way to get that student all three qualifications, said Tammy Biery, executive director of Career Solutions, formerly the Stearns-Benton Employment and Training Council. In just a few weeks this summer, the two groups came up with a plan for a growing number of St. Cloud immigrants who aren't able to earn a diploma by the time they age out of the system.
