There are clear indications that groundwater use is affecting stream flows in Little Rock Creek. Little Rock Creek is an important coldwater trout stream, which flows through the Little Rock Creek area.

Camp Ripley ceremony honors new commander - S.D. dairy farmer rises through military ranks 

Connor Kruse, son, watches while Amy Kruse, wife and 1Lt Jacob Kruse, son, pin the new rank Saturday on Brigadier General Lowell E. Rep. Kresha congratulates Royalton on economic growth grant 

Recently, the city of Royalton received a Greater Minnesota Business Development Public Infrastructure Program grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic. "This is a great opportunity for one of our local cities to use these state resources to bolster our economic growth, and create more good-paying jobs," said Rep. Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls, in a news release.

Officials look at expanding Paul Bunyan Expressway in northern Minn. 

Personnel from communities along major travel corridors north and south of Bemidji met with District 5A Rep. Matt Bliss, R-Pennington, here to discuss the future of State Highway 371. The highway, specifically between Little Falls and Bemidji, has been a point of discussion at the local and state levels for more than two decades.

MPR in Brainerd off the air due to lightning damage 

Fans of Minnesota Public Radio in Brainerd who have grown accustomed to listening to classical music and tuning in for news were met recently with something unusual: silence. Callers to MPR stations KBPN-FM 88.3 News and KBPR-FM 90.7 Classical were greeted Friday with a recorded message about what was simply billed as "an unfortunate circumstance."

Authorities Locate Rifle of Hunter Killed in 2016; Believe it Was Used to Kill Him 

Authorities say they have found the rifle that belonged to a Morrison County man believed to be out hunting by himself when he was fatally shot in November 2016. Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen made the announcement Friday, saying forensic investigation continues, but the Winchester Model 30-30 lever action rifle is believed to have been the weapon used in what is being investigated as a homicide.

Sheriff: Rifle used to kill hunter recovered 

Sheriff's investigators say they've recovered a key piece of evidence that could help lead them to the person or people responsible for the fatal shooting of a hunter near Little Falls. The body of Terry Brisk was found on remote land he owned in Morrison County about a year ago.

Little Falls, Minnesota, through Charles Lindbergh's eyes 

As I plotted a course across Pike Creek, eyeing the distance between stones, bubbles from a washboard riffle floated on the surface like constellations. Though it was miniature in scale and not at all consequential, I realized the crossing I was about to make, one that Charles Lindbergh made countless times as a boy, was not entirely unlike the sight he would have seen during his epochal transatlantic flight 90 years ago.

Operation Christmas Child drop-off sites announced 

This month, several locations in the multi-county Lower North Central Minnesota Area Team will serve as drop-off sites for the Samaritan's Purse project, Operation Christmas Child-joining nearly 5,000 U.S. locations collecting gift-filled shoeboxes for children in need around the world. During the project's national collection week scheduled Nov. 13-20, Brainerd residents will transform empty shoeboxes into gifts filled with school supplies, hygiene items and toys.

Two Little Falls Boys Avoid Abduction 

Two boys in Little Falls avoided a potential abduction after they told the suspects to "shut up" and biked to a nearby house. The Little Falls police department says at about 6:30 p.m. Friday night two boys were on their bikes in the 200 block of Lindbergh Drive South.
