Second request to reduce bail in Baez cases denied 

An Olmsted County District Court judge denied a defense request to substantially lower bail for Julio Baez, a former Kasson police officer accused of sexual misconduct. Judge Kathy M. Wallace denied the request Monday afternoon citing concerns about Baez's ability to re-appear in court and public safety as well as Baez's safety.

Kasson Legion dedicates state's first 'Freedom Rock' 

Minnesota's first "Freedom Rock," which stands outside the Kasson American Legion building, was officially dedicated on Labor Day, in between heavy rain showers that sent participants scurrying to find shelter minutes before the scheduled time. In an emotional highlight to the half-hour ceremony the rock's artist, Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II, accepted the ashes of veteran Carl Mergen, added them to paint and painted them on a portion of the rock as Gabby Thomas sang "America the Beautiful" with the audience joining in.

Kasson-Mantorville School Enrollment on the Rise 

Rochester continues to expand as a Destination Medical Center, and that growth is spreading to nearby communities like Kasson and Mantorville. Mark Matuska has been the Superintendent for the Kasson-Mantorville school district for eight years, and in that time he has seen a lot of changes.

Rare heart defect inspires gathering that offers inspiration

Kasson man arrested for robbery 

Derrek Michael Sanchez, 23, may face a charge of first-degree aggravated robbery, according to Rochester Police Lt. Mike Sadauskis.

Two hurt in crash between Rochester and Byron 

It happened around 7:45 am at the intersection of Highway 14 and 60th Avenue NW in Olmsted County. The Minnesota State Patrol says Natalie Catherine Erbs, 30 of Rochester, was driving south and failed to yield to westbound traffic, getting hit by the vehicle driven by Jerica Lea Crowson, 30 of Kasson.

Kasson K-9 officer finishes 1st in agility certification, 2nd in evidence search 

Dodge County's only police K-9 officer, Hawk, received a first place finish in agility and second place finish in evidence search during the United States Police Canine Association Certification in Des Moines, Iowa. Hawk joined the Kasson Police Department around a year ago and has been working with Officer Gerald Runnells.
