Thirteen southeastern Minnesota high schools scored above the state average, and 19 exceeded the national average score for the ACT college entrance exam, in figures released this morning by the Minnesota Department of Education . Century High School , in Rochester, held its position as the top-scoring high school in the region, with an average ACT score of 23.7, down two-tenths of a point from 2017, but a comfortable margin higher than Mayo High School and Byron High School , the next-highest scoring schools on the list.

Bluegrass music is back with the 26th SEMBA Bluegrass Festival, to be held Thursday through Sunday at Cushon's Peak campground near Houston. The Southeast Minnesota Bluegrass Association hosts the festival, which brings bands from as far away as Alabama to perform in concerts each day and evening.
