Lowell Peterson 

Lowell Charles Peterson, 74 of Jackson, Missouri, formerly of Hibbing, Alexandria and Farmington, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born February 15, 1944 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to the late Philip and Gina Peterson.

Cleveland-Cliffs' 3Q earnings seven times higher than last year 

Cleveland-Cliffs, a major player on Minnesota's Iron Range, posted third-quarter earnings more than seven times higher than last year, signaling that its multiyear recovery is on sure footing. Ohio-based Cliffs - which operates Hibbing Taconite, United Taconite and Northshore Mining in Minnesota - said Friday its third quarter revenue was up 24.3 percent to $742 million.

2 charged in string of robberies, shooting of Minneapolis musician 

Two people have been arrested and charged in a string of Minneapolis robberies, including one in which a popular Minneapolis musician was shot and wounded. Update to Fatal Crash in Side Lake 

The St. Louis County Sheriff's office has released the names of the people involved in a fatal deer-related crash in Side Lake. The update said the passenger, Ros-Linda Rowe Runde, 74, was from Virginia.

Cliffs and USW reach four year tentative labor contract 

Cleveland-Cliffs and the United Steelworkers have reached a tentative agreement for a four year labor contract that would cover 1,800 union workers, officials announced late Sunday. If ratified by local union shops, the tentative contract would cover USW workers at Cleveland Cliffs' operations in both Minnesota and Michigan.

Accident in Atkins leaves one man dead 

Police say that a man is dead after being hit by a car off highway 200 last night around 7:30 near Jacobson, MN in Atkins county. Authorities say a 61 year old man from Floodwood,MN was a passenger in a car when it hit an animal on the road both the 61 year old man and the driver a 64-year-old man from Hibbing, MN pulled off to the side of the road.

Northern Minnesota driver swerves to miss deer, hits tree; passenger dies 

A 74-year-old woman from Virginia, Minn., was fatally injured just before 5 a.m. Thursday when the driver of the car she was in swerved to miss a deer on a St. Louis County road and hit a tree, authorities said. When first responders arrived to the scene in Side Lake, Minn., they found the driver, a 53-year-old Hibbing man, injured, according to the Sheriff's Office.
