Iron Range mining companies' legal battle expands with more allegations 

The battle between Cleveland-Cliffs and Tom Clarke, owner of ERP Iron Ore and Mesabi Metallics, continues to be waged in courts and in the media. Cliffs and Clarke remain embroiled in a battle for a rich deposit of taconite iron ore near Nashwauk, battling in court and among Iron Range and state officials as well as union workers.

Board hears from Falls High School students, teacher 

Falls High School students Monday expressed their concern about the struggle to obtain a grade-point average that they feel is too high. Students Anna Levine and Megan Nemec, on behalf of the student council, spoke about the 3.95 grade point average required to be honored with the academic excellence award.

Cleveland-Cliffs Accuses Tom Clarke of Racketeering 

Cleveland-Cliffs has now accused Tom Clarke and his associates with racketeering. This comes in the form of an amended complaint filed by Cliffs, in connection with a past business deal involving their former coal pines.

Man Injured at Hibbing Taconite 

The Hibbing Fire Marshal said that the call was for a man who was struck in the neck with a high pressure hose, and that he had significant bleeding.

Northern Minnesota Film Finding Success in Theaters 

"Cold November," a film about northern Minnesota shot by an almost entirely Minnesotan cast and crew is doing well in local theaters and at film festivals. The movie is about a 12-year-old girl going through the rite of passage of hunting her first deer.

Habitat for Humanity started their first project of the year on Sunday afternoon with a groundbreaking ceremony for a Hibbing family. The ceremony was held for what is going to be the home of Jeff and Linda Patterson.
