Are they arsonists? 

The owners of a south-central Minnesota home destroyed by fire in January have now been charged in connection with that fire. Jeffrey George Ackerson Jr., 34, of Bird Island is facing felony charges of arson, insurance fraud and cruelty to animals, while his wife, Sheena Marie Ackerson, 36, has been charged with one felony count of aiding and abetting insurance fraud.

Cohasset man dies in vehicle accident in drainage ditch near Hector 

A Cohasset man was found dead Thursday morning, Dec. 14, inside an upside-down vehicle frozen in the ice at the bottom of a county drainage ditch by a farm field near Hector. The Renville County Sheriff's Office received a report at 10:32 a.m. Thursday about a vehicle lying on its roof at the bottom of Judicial Ditch 15, which is located about a quarter mile east of Hector.

Drone used to find suspect 

The Renville County Sheriff's Office used a drone to find a 25-year-old Willmar man in a cornfield about eight miles north of Hector Saturday. Jeremy Nordberg, 25, of Willmar, was taken into custody after about four hours of pursuit that included speeds greater than 100 mph, after a gas drive-off was reported in Franklin at about 11:03 a.m. A deputy tried to stop the suspect vehicle, a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta, that was reported stolen when the suspect fled.

Willmar man arrested after high-speed chase in stolen car 

A Willmar, Minnesota, man is in jail after leading law enforcement on a 21-mile, high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle Saturday, Oct. 7. Jeremy Nordberg, 25, was arrested four hours later in a cornfield near Hector after officers used a drone, a K-9 officer and State Patrol helicopter to get him to emerge from the field. He is being held in the Renville County Jail pending a court appearance on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing a peace officer, driving after revocation and possession of drug paraphernalia.
