Area preliminary school district levies 

Business manager Nancy Clark said they simply set the maximum levy number. 2019 Preliminary Levy: Superintendent Mike Redmond said the district is still calculating its levy amount, but passes the maximum per pupil operating levy.

Students raise funds for Harbert family 

The Hayfield fall sports teams and administration set goals to raise money for the Harbert family, who were involved in a tragic car accident in Claremont. The football and volleyball captains' goal was to raise $250 - by reaching that goal they would smash pies in each other's faces.

Area students learn about early 1800s at Zumbro Bend Rendezvous 

The weather may not have cooperated, but students from local schools didn't seem to mind as they attended "School Days" at the Zumbro Bend Rendezvous last week in Dodge Center. Sixth-graders from Byron and fifth-graders from Kasson-Mantorville sloshed through water and mud on Thursday to get a view of life in the early 1800s while students from Triton and Hayfield braved cold and wind on Friday.
