Minn. man accused of trying to bribe sexual assault victim with a free mobile home 

A Hawley, Minn., man already facing a charge in Clay County District Court of sexually assaulting an acquaintance is now accused of trying to bribe the victim to make the case go away by offering to buy her a mobile home. Alexander John Cookson, 28, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, false imprisonment, conspiracy to commit bribery and attempted bribery, all felonies.

FBI child porn investigation leads to rural Hawley 

The FBI and the Clay County Sheriff's Office are working on a child pornography investigation in rural Clay County. According to a search warrant affidavit, the FBI notified the the sheriff's office that federal investigators had been working on the case in October.

DNA analyst links two pieces of evidence to Thomas Snow in murder trial of parents 

An expert said she found Thomas Snow's DNA on at least two pieces of evidence - a cigarette butt and pair of khaki pants - tested in his murder trial in the deaths of his parents, while testing of a hammer and a drill were inconclusive. Rebecca Tobey, a DNA analyst at the Indiana State Police Lowell Regional Laboratory, went through dozens of items investigators asked her test Thursday in Lake Superior Court that were collected after Clifford Snow, 68, and Joyce Snow, 66, were found dead in their Lowell home on Oct. 18, 2013, during a welfare check.

A police officer said Thomas Snow acted strange when he was arrested along a Minnesota highway on Oct. 19, 2013. "What stood out to me was just this wild look on his face," said Thomas Taylor, with the Hawley, Minn., Police Department.
